DEADLINE FOR ACCEPTING ENTRIES 'THURSDAY 8TH JULY'
This year, Bath Art for Life will take place in the amazing new venue; Milsom Place and The Octagon, and will be in support of Dorothy House Hospice Care.
The New Location
With the main sponsorship from B&NES, and the initiative extended to us by the Executive of Milsom Place Ltd, we are thrilled to be holding Bath Art for Life 2010 in the prestigious Milsom Place and the adjoining building, The Octagon. Milsom Place and the Octagon is a shopping arcade and old chapel on Milsom Street; the most highly frequented shopping area in Bath, with a daily footfall of tens of thousands of people.
A number of empty units in this prime shopping arcade will display around 100 paintings exhibited by accepted artists. The pleasant walkway through Milsom Place leads to the beautiful Octagon, which will house over 300 more of the selected paintings. Previous art fairs located in this space have been hugely successful, and we hope Bath Art for Life 2010, will be the most successful yet. To find where Bath Art for Life 2010 is located this year, please view the map by clicking on to '2010 Visitors Information'.
Change of Support
The support this year from B&NES means the preview night, to be held on Tuesday 13th July, will be open to B&NES dignitaries and invited Bath traders, alongside the artists and their guests.
The Charity
This year, Art for Life will be supporting Dorothy House Hospice Care; a local charitable organisation, who offer care to patients facing life threatening illnesses, and their families. The charity is wholly supported by contributions from the public sector and Bath Art for Life 2010 will donate 40% from each sale of artwork to the charity. Artists will receive 55%, and 5% will go towards administrative fees.
The New Committee
Bath Art for Life has also changed from last year. The formation of a new committee, solely comprised of working artists, has enabled the art fair to progress and grow.
We welcome on board: Elinor Nash, Richard Kempe, and Lizzie Lewry as new committee members, who join Bath Art for Life founder, David Seymour.
The New Criteria
In principle, Bath Art for Life will retain its main initiative of accepting artwork on a 'first come, first served' basis. The introduction of specific criteria (see the ‘Artist Regulations’ in the downloadable '2010 Artist Form' section) is intended to create the best possible exhibition.
To fall in line with the general rates offered by other art outlets in the West of England, each painting submitted will incur a fee of £7.50; the maximum number of three paintings per Artist will have a charge of £20. There are no other additional fees (except the breakdowns given above for the sale of artwork), unless unsold artwork is not collected by the given collection date.
We are sure Bath Art for Life 2010 will be an exciting event for all of Bath and the surrounding area.
